103 pages. This report examines the market for medical gloves in the four countries of Latin America that are Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico. It provides information on these major countries of Latin America with respect to consumption of medical gloves and identifies the market potential for exports of the gloves from Malaysia. The consumption of medical gloves both surgical and examination in Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico is currenlty low ranging from 8 to 12 pairs of gloves per capita. However, the healthcare sector witnesses increased usage of medical gloves driven mainly by improved access to healthcare facilties as a result of healthcare reforms being implemented in the four countries. Consumption of medical gloves in the four countries is projected to grow by 8% on average per annum for the period 2014-2018. This is higher than the rate of growth in the last five years. As local production of the gloves is sufficient and vary by country, all the four countries rely on imported gloves to cater domestic demand for the products. This report seeks to provide comprehensive and up to date information on the trade data of medical gloves, the factors affecting demand, supply channels and import requirements. With this report, MREPC continues its role as a provider of researched market information to guide Malaysian rubber product manufacturers in accessing new and expanded opportunities in the medical gloves sector. MREPC welcomes feedback from Malaysian exporters on aditional information that may be needed and in making this and similar reports more useful.
