119 pages. MRC conducted a post-Covid cost competitiveness benchmarking analysis in the rubber glove manufacturing sector, assessing the competitiveness of Malaysian manufacturers against those in Thailand, China, Vietnam and the USA. The study examines the production costs for six types of gloves namely examination gloves, surgical gloves, cleanroom gloves, food handling gloves, household gloves and industrial gloves. This report serves as an update to the series of cost competitiveness benchmarking studies completed by MRC in 2010,2012,2014,2017 and 2020. The 2023 update is deemed important to re-evaluate the industry landscape post-Covid as the world has changed since 2020. Covid-19 has altered the way things operate, remodeled our lives, redefined the way we work and reshaped social behaviour. Additionally, the update in 2023 is important, taking into account changes in production costs such as labour, fuel, utilities, and other overhead cost that have changed in several countries. This study could then provide a basis for comparing costs in the manufacturing of rubber gloves, which may be useful in assessing Malaysia's competitiveness vis-a-vis other glove manufacturing countries.
